THE ESSENCE OF TUTTI
Faced with the problem of the lack of democratisation in the world of sport, mainly due to high costs, difficult accessibility due to lack of transport, stereotypes and attitudes, it is clear that it must be understood that sport must transcend all social classes and genders. Therefore, the objective is to respect article 1, paragraph 1 of the UNESCO International Charter of Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport which states that
“Every human being has the fundamental right to access physical education, physical activity and sport without discrimination based on (...) social origin”
It is this fundamental right that has guided the message and action of our association TUTTI & SPORTS, which is composed of students from Sciences Po Paris on the Poitiers campus.
But why is it important that everyone has access to sports practice?
Quite simply, sport can play an indirect educational role for any child with a lack of or inadequate parental or school education. Indeed, as UNESCO points out, sport is not only beneficial for mental and physical fitness, but it is also a vehicle for transmitting values such as fair play (which in itself includes respect, teamwork, mutual aid, honesty,...). Secondly, as Sean Adams explains in his TEDx: The Real Importance of Sport, in a sports team, equality between the players reigns while social inequalities are momentarily omitted. Under the colours of the same jersey, the team members help each other and fight for a common goal: victory. Thus, by making sport accessible to all, by including all social classes, nationalities and making it mixed and equal, sport could be the first step towards a society where social justice prevails. In other words, if children learn values by playing with each other, they will be able to transpose these socialisation skills into their behaviour in everyday society! This is the vision that TUTTI wants to underline and transmit, hence our motto which is the promotion of inclusion and emancipation of young people through sport and its democratisation.
This vision is the one that TUTTI wants to highlight and transmit, hence our motto which is the promotion of the inclusion and emancipation of young people through sport and its democratization.
INCLUSIVE COMPETITIONS
To innovate, TUTTI came up with the idea of implementing these previous findings in the form of inclusive football competitions based on randomness. We imagined that the best way to include young people through football would be to put them in random teams: teams where the girls play with the boys, where those from wealthy backgrounds play with those from
disadvantaged backgrounds and where the importance rests exclusively on the fact of good
play together and win!
FAIR PLAY
Fair-play, omnipresent theme during our competitions, is important since at the end of these, there is a prize for the team having been the most fair play.
THE PRINCIPLE OF THE BLUE CARD
Within our inclusive competitions, there is also the presence of “blue cards”: each time a child performs actions or behaves that go against the principles of fair play, one of the TUTTI volunteers takes out the card blue to the player, take him out of the field for a minute or two to explain his faults so that the child can then return to play on the field.
OUR GOALS
From an equal opportunity perspective, the fact of being able to give the opportunity to all types of children to play together but also to be able to transmit to them the values of fair play seems essential to us. Our mission is to create bonds between them from childhood so that this is reflected in the form of a more egalitarian society in the long term.
In addition, one of our main missions is linked to the inclusion and representativeness of women's sport. Indeed, knowing the importance of the participation of young girls in the sports world from a young age, our goal is that parity prevails in our competitions.
